hello all! i hope you’re having a wonderful day today. i just wanted to share something i made for a friend’s upcoming birthday. i painted this canvas and added the quote, “don’t ever let anyone dull your sparkle” because i felt that it embodied her so well. but then it got me thinking. everyone has some kind of personal sparkle, and no one should try to dull anyone else’s. so surround yourself with people who make you happy, and embrace life to the fullest. everyone owes that to themselves.
sparkle on, lovelies!
happy saturday! today i wanted to share some of the pictures that i took during the week. maybe i’ll make this a weekly thing! (if i remember to take enough pictures, that is).
one of my friends has a toaster…that toasts the lakers symbol on it. i love the lakers. naturally, i needed a piece.
some of us went to study at barnes and noble last saturday night. one of my friends was sweet enough to get me a red velvet cupcake. yum!
on sunday, i went to get some dim sum (dim summing, as we like to call it, haha). if you’ve never tried this asian cuisine, you need to.
took a trip to the campus library. i love books!
a home-cooked meal. 🙂
winter is beautiful in southern california!
the pictures that i ordered came in! <3…
…and i used them to make this collage on my bedroom wall! i love it!
i hope you enjoyed these snapshots. have a great rest of your day!
alrighty, i want to start something new on my blog, so i’ve decided to start *drum roll please* music mondays! this is where i will post my favorite songs that i’ve been listening to for the week. since this is my first one, it’ll probably have a lot of songs. let the listening commence!
- Between the Raindrops – Lifehouse ft. Natasha Bedingfield
- Home and Gone, Gone, Gone – Phillip Phillips
- The Scientist – Coldplay
- Homeward Bound/Home – Glee Cast
- All Too Well and Begin Again – Taylor Swift
- ANYTHING by Jon McLaughlin. If you don’t know who Jon McLaughlin is…you need to go listen to his music. His newest Forever If Ever is amazing. ❤
what are your favorite songs/artists? i’d love to know! i love discovering new music. 🙂
as promised, here is my new project for 2013!
“Start the year off with an empty jar and fill it with notes about good things that happen. On New Years Eve, empty it and see what awesome things happened that year.”
like the caption said, i’ve been writing all the good things that have been happening so far onto little scraps of paper and putting them into the jar. (i used a mason jar that i got from the dollar store and put some stickers on it that i had lying around in my room) here’s what my jar looks like at the moment:
i can’t wait until my jar gets more full, especially since that means more awesome things will have happened 🙂 i’m excited!
are you doing anything like this for the year? let me know! i love hearing new crafty ideas 🙂
if you’re a college student and on the quarter system, you’ll probably understand the whole “week” system. i just got back from winter break, and today was the end of week 1, aka going-to-all-of-your-classes-and-making-sure-you-like-them week. coming back to school after 3 wonderful weeks of sleeping in was hard, but i really like all of my classes and am excited for this upcoming quarter. all my textbooks even came in today–so let the reading commence! (i hope my sarcasm is reflected in that comment). tomorrow i plan to seriously hit the books, as it is only the first week and i’m already behind. seriously, how does that even happen?
i’m in the process of decorating some little nick-knacks to organize my desk space in my apartment, as well as painting some pieces for my friends’ birthdays. pictures/projects should be up soon! that’ll be fun. 🙂
yay for it finally being the weekend!
at the beginning of last year, i began one of those projects that some people do that last throughout the year. it was writing in a journal everyday, reflecting on all the things that happened that were worth documenting, and being thankful for making it through the day. i saw this post (that i copied into the front cover of the journal) and it inspired me to start my 2012 journal:
each day, at the end of the day, i would take some time to reflect and write all the good things that happened, and i concluded each day with an inspirational quote that i found.
(ps. sorry these pictures aren’t the best/are blurry, i’m still trying to get a hang of photographing objects in a different perspective! bear with me.)
for 2013, i’m trying something different, because writing in a journal everyday was pretty hard. i’ll admit that i did clump a few days together when i didn’t get the time to write each day, and kind of recapped all the things that i remembered. i did make it through to the end of the year, though! i’ll make sure to do a post about my newest project soon–i think i might end up liking it a lot better!
if you’re thinking about doing some kind of year-long project, i highly suggest beginning one! whatever you choose to do, at the end of the year, you’ll be able to reflect on all the things that happened, and i personally think it’s fun to see how you spent the year. here’s to a wonderful 2013!
until next time, sincerely, lena.
hello new friends!
welcome to my blog, a place where i hope to share my interesting things that happen to me as well as my thoughts about anything and everything. here’s a little about me:
- i am currently 19 years old
- i’m attending a wonderful university where i’m studying psychology!
- california girl ❤
i was inspired to start my blog after following and reading 2 blogs (Oh, Hello Friend and A Beautiful Mess) for a few months now. their posts are wonderful and they have some great diy and inspirational posts–i highly suggest that you check them out!
as for me and this blog that i’m starting, i hope to share some inspirational stories as well, because to me, it’s the little things that matter in life. and maybe, i might just inspire others to begin blogging as well. it’s a big ambition, but hey, they say dream big, right?
i guess this concludes my first post on this blog. i hope everyone had a fun and safe new years, and is looking forward to a great year in 2013!
